Titles in the industry and do they really matter?
My title is a soft tissue therapist. But does this really mean anything?
Many times, I have had clients with severe pain not come to me when they ring up. This is because I’m not a chiropractor and they will only see a chiropractor. When I ask them why they say it’s for back pain. I then ask if they know the difference in the titles and people do not know. They even rule out osteopaths which is crazy!
This post is nothing against chiropractors or any industry.
This post is about educating people on how things have changed through the years.
When someone with backpain only entertains a chiropractor for treatment they are missing out on so many therapists that can help.
Therapists that treat muscle and can include mobilisation for better ROM also taking into account other things that maybe going on in the body.
Depending on the qualifications a therapist has, so many other people can help.
I refer to myself as specialising in back pain. This is because I study this the most. I keep all my knowledge up to date within the current industry and follow all the new scientific evidence that comes out. This is why I’m good at it, I study, I read and I work hard on my knowledge. Sometimes having to reassure a client on what I believe is best for the client but in fairness they trust me to do the right treatment for that individual.
Am I a chiropractor no, can I help yes!
Anything ranging from, massage therapists, sports therapists, soft tissue therapists, wellness belief coding and many more can help with chronic pain it all depends on many factors
Do not be stuck in the past with the chiropractor route because it isn’t always the answer.
